Between packing what seems like an endless number of boxes in anticipation of the big move to New York, Joel Henard and I were able to record a two part ROTOscouting baseball podcast. In episode 9, we talk postseason awards, whether or not they matter and if the right players won. From a highly contested American League Cy Young race between Felix Hernandez and Corey Kluber to Clayton Kershaw winning both the National League Cy Young and Most Valuable Player awards, we cover them all.
Episode 8 of the ROTOscouting Baseball Podcast features Joel Henard and I breaking down the Jason Heyward/Shelby Miller trade from both the Cardinals and Braves perspective. Also, was the Russell Martin signing going to take the Blue Jays pitching staff to the next level? Can the Mets swing a deal for Starlin Castro? We even find time for a little craft beer talk. No interviews this week, but it allowed us to record back-to-back episodes and make up for lost time. Enjoy our 5-star rated podcast and share with a friend or 10.
Episode seven of the ROTOscouting Baseball Podcast is live and features Joel Henard and I talking World Series including next steps for both the Giants and Royals. Can San Francisco afford to let Pablo Sandoval walk? Do the Royals have the talent to make a repeat run without tweaking the formula? Later in the episode, former Los Angeles Angels executive Tory Hernandez joins us to discuss the Reality Fantasy Baseball World Series and next steps for the fantasy baseball start up before turning our attention to Major League Baseball. In this segment, Tory touches on the Oscar Taveras tragedy through his personal relationship with former prospect Nick Adenhart who was killed in a car accident after celebrating his first MLB win. It’s an informative baseball podcast in which ROTOscouting listeners are given a glimpse behind the thought process of a MLB franchise.
Ep. 6 of the ROTOscouting Baseball Podcast features Joel Henard and I discussing the Royals World Series run, MLB playoffs, the top-50 fantasy baseball prospects scouted and Boston Red Sox prospects with David Laurila of FanGraphs. It’s a fast paced hour filled packed with the best in fantasy baseball fueled by baseball scouting.
Ep. 5 of the ROTOscouting Baseball Podcast is live hosted by an under the weather Joel Henard and I. This week, we talk playoffs and Braves, but Tory Hernandez (former baseball operations employee with the Rangers, Dodgers, Angels and Boras Corp.) stole the show with an extended interview with insight into drafting Mike Trout, the inner working of the Boras Corporation and an introduction to Reality Fantasy Baseball, his fantasy baseball product.
Ep. 4 of the ROTOscouting Baseball Podcast is live and features Joel Henard and I talking Yankees (mostly) with a segment on the Braves’ firing of Frank Wren. Contributor Fabian McNally joins us to discuss Double-A Yankees prospects including Mason Williams, Greg Bird, Jake Cave and a host of others. We also talk about his experience working the 2008 MLB draft and teaching Bud Selig how to pronounce the names of players before the commissioner took to the podium. Ep. 3 of the ROTOscouting baseball podcast is live and features 76 minutes of hardball chatter on baseball prospects, fantasy baseball and baseball WAR, among other things. Contributor Grant Schiller joined Joel Henard and I to talk Texas Rangers prospects and discuss which of the big three (Chi Chi Gonzalez, Luke Jackson and Jake Thompson) would be the first to join the big league rotation. He’s also seen current and future top-100 prospects including Nomar Mazara, Jorge Alfaro and Joey Gallo, so we had to pick his brain on the trio. A couple of weeks ago, the first ROTOscouting baseball podcast went live. Today, it’s exciting to announce we’re now on ITunes. In our first episode, Joel Henard and I break down the Boston Red Sox. From the trade deadline to what reinforcements are in the minor league system, years of scouting teams in Greenville, Lowell and Pawtucket provide an in depth knowledge of where the organization is headed in the future.
Since the beginning of ROTOscouting, diehard subscribers have clamored for a baseball Podcast. It’s here! After a handful of enjoyable appearances on The Fantasy Insiders show with Joel Henard, he was an obvious candidate for c0-host and we began discussing the formation for an hour long show about a month ago. Episode 1 features Joel and I talking everything Red Sox as an example of what ROTOscouting brings to the table in terms of well-rounded baseball coverage with a trained eye on the prospect world as it pertains to fantasy baseball.
